Lurie Garden

2021
giclee print on rice paper, 18 x 24 inches

This work combines 495 GoPro photographs taken in the Lurie Garden in Chicago. While visiting the garden, I was reminded of the experience of walking through a traditional Chinese garden, where the scenery continuously transforms with each step. Unlike the grandeur and fixed linear perspective often emphasized in European garden design, the Chinese garden unfolds as a living organism—one that reflects a sense of harmony in which humans are part of nature rather than separate from it. In this sense, visiting the garden becomes a time-based experience, shaped through movement, perception, and gradual revelation. This photo collage serves as a record of my passage through the garden in Chicago, capturing shifting viewpoints, layered moments, and the rhythm of wandering through space.
